The basis of our game is there is one player who plays “Randy.” Randy has the job of dealing out phones which players can purchase through currency received by answering questions. Through buying these phones players gain certain perks or advantages over the others in the game, the perks on each phone are different and there is a variety of different phones to purchase with varying prices. Randy is also in charge of dealing out currency and asking the questions along with the dealing of phones. The game begins with a roll of a dice and the player with the highest number can ask answer a question first of different varying difficulties. The stages go hard questions for $200, medium for $100 and easy for $50.
My group and I tried to even out the work load by trying to do equal parts of the game, we all discussed what the rules would be with Jimmy writing the final copy of the rules while Xavier and I worked on coming up with perks for the phones and making their cards and working on the design of the board. We all also contributed by writing out the questions although Jimmy had put a lot of the effort into the writing of the questions. All in all I would say that our work load was pretty evenly divided among us. Most of all decisions on the game were made by the whole group and everyone in our groups opinions were taken into account.
In the process of making the game I learnt teamwork and collaboration with group members and coming to a resolve that would satisfy everyone in the group even if something did not work out how I wanted it to. I also feel like I learnt to manage my time very well and we were able to complete everything on time. I learned to use the process of trial and error and working around obstacles that faced us in terms of the playability of the finished product and making the game fair and appealing to everyone. In the end it was a fun experience.
In terms of playability I mean to stay modest but must say that I quite enjoyed our game and personally see it as pretty good. It’s fun to play and fair as long as you can keep up with the questions and not be annoyed by certain perks other players have purchased throwing obstacles in your way. I personally think we could have done a bit more work on our board but still think everything was executed well. I don’t think our game is something that you could play over and over again though because of the simple fact that the questions would get far too repetitive.
